Our Approach
to Spine Conditions
Finding the Source
of Your Pain
Every spine condition is different, and every patient deserves a plan built around their symptoms, goals, imaging, and lifestyle. At Palm Beach Spine & Disc Replacement Center, our team takes the time to listen carefully, explain what may be causing your pain, and walk you through the most appropriate options.
Care may include non-surgical treatment, minimally invasive spine surgery, motion-preserving procedures, or more advanced surgical solutions when needed. The goal is always the same: to help you move with less pain and return to the life you enjoy.
Identifying Where It Hurts
Cervical Spine: Neck and Upper Back Pain
The cervical spine includes the vertebrae and discs in the neck. Conditions in this area may cause neck pain, upper back discomfort, headaches, numbness, tingling, weakness, or changes in coordination.
Thoracic Spine: Mid Back Pain
The thoracic spine runs through the mid back, from the upper chest area to the lower ribs. Thoracic conditions may cause aching, sharp pain, stiffness, muscle spasms, fatigue, or weakness.
Lumbar Spine: Lower Back Pain
The lumbar spine is the lower back region below the ribcage. Lumbar conditions may cause lower back pain, leg pain, numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, or in more serious cases, changes in bladder or bowel control.
CONDITIONS
Spinal Conditions
Degenerative Disc Disease
Degenerative disc disease occurs when spinal discs begin to wear down over time, often leading to back or neck pain, stiffness, or nerve-related symptoms. Treatment depends on the severity of degeneration and how much it affects daily life.
→
Herniated Disc
A herniated disc happens when disc material pushes beyond its normal space and irritates nearby nerves. This can cause localized pain, radiating arm or leg pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness.
Sciatica
Sciatica refers to pain that travels along the sciatic nerve, often from the lower back into the buttock, hip, or leg. It is commonly linked to nerve compression from a herniated disc, spinal stenosis, or other lumbar spine conditions.
Spinal Stenosis
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal or nerve openings that can place pressure on the spinal cord or nerves. Symptoms may include pain, numbness, weakness, or difficulty walking for long periods.
→
Cervical Radiculopathy
Cervical radiculopathy occurs when a nerve in the neck becomes compressed or irritated. It may cause neck pain that travels into the shoulder, arm, or hand, often with numbness, tingling, or weakness.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is an abnormal side-to-side curve of the spine. While some cases are mild, more advanced curves may cause pain, posture changes, uneven shoulders or hips, and reduced mobility.
Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra slips forward over the one below it. This can lead to back pain, nerve compression, leg symptoms, or instability depending on the severity of the slip.
Kyphosis
Kyphosis is an excessive forward rounding of the upper back. It may develop from posture, degeneration, fractures, or structural spine changes and can cause pain, stiffness, or visible changes in alignment.
